SBG president vs. Jake Go

Gallaudet University's Student Body Government president, Robert McConnell have some issues with a student, Jake Go. Jake Go have a disorder called CHARGE syndrome and it has do affect to his desperate for acceptance. SBG president, Robert McConnell was tired of Jake Go's annoying e-mails and then McConnell respond to him and insult him about "mental illiness" and need some professional help. Jake Go decided to foward that e-mail to some Gallaudet community which it does make SBG president look bad.

It was possible reason for many SBG staff resigned, includes vice president, Sara Collins and Chief of Staff, Jessica Frank?

Former SBG Vice President

Former Gallaudet University's Student Body Government Vice President, Sara Collins recently resigned her position due to health reason. The rumor was spread that reason why she resigned as vice president because she was pregnant. The source is very valid because it just rumor from students.

If she said that reason why she resigned as SBG vice president due to health reason. It was possible that she was pregnant since pregnancy is part of the health issue.

Another protest?

President Davila and Provost Weiner decided to have a meeting with student organization presidents. They plan to have meet with faculty/staff and students next.

They have a concern that I. King Jordan and Jane Fernendes comes back to teach next semester. They was worried to heard the rumor that there will another students protest and can hurt our school's accredite since our probation is recently off. President Davila try to say that is not worth to protest against just two persons.

Some students was not happy to heard this rumor because we want to move on with "New Gallaudet" and healing. Maybe it will be protest enough if we just don't sign up for classes under I. King Jordan and Jane Fernandes instead prepare a biggest protest and it can make us look bad.

Former CRE's divorce

Robert Wilson, former CRE for Benson Hall and currently work for Department of Public Safety. He recently divorced his wife several months ago. The rumor that reason they divorce because his wife decided to became lesbian. I heard so many stories from students at Gallaudet University, it sound so reliable.

What I know from today's society, people start to open with gay community and more people come out from closet. But sad thing that some married couples get divorced because of their lover decides to come out from closet to be gay.

"White Thanksgiving"

The sources say that there is snowing in Canada and the north part of United States. Is that good thing? Because of danger for global warming or just enjoy the snow that we don't get much snow lately.

We can have a nice Thanksgiving vacation with snow in (maybe) exchange for "White Christmas." There is one negative about having a snow during a holiday. Delay flights can really awful for most people who waiting to go home for holiday or return to home, work, or school. I did interview to some students who experience some flight delaying when they are trying to return to Gallaudet after Thanksgiving vacation.

Flight delaying is pretty hassle for many people because nobody like to sit in airport and wait for long period. Even if there are plently of store and food courts at airport. For my personal experience at Greyhound bus station, my bus got delayed for like 8 hours and I have to sit and wait for long time with nothing else to do and no place to eat.

Maybe it was good thing that airport have wireless for us to use laptop during waiting but some airline do cost money to use wireless. Patience that we are all struggle with it and no one can have 100% of patience.

Greek event in Rathskallar?

It is good idea to host a greek events like Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity and Delta Zeta Sorority event in Rathskallar?

I did get some sources from students' complains about can't get a food or drink from Rathskallar because it is close to DSP and DZ event. One student did forget about that event and take all his energy to walk all way from dorm to Rathskallar and find it is closed and he just wanted a drink. What if student is sick and want to get orange juice or ginger ale from Rathskallar? I did talk to one student, she has to pay $8 to get in Rathskallar to get some dinner that she missed from Cafe.

Should all Greek events move to different place to have a party but still can use Rathskallar for alcohol and food? Like Flex A & B?

Sexperts program at Ballard West

Peer Health Advocate, Angela Cannella and Resident Advistor, Stephanie Moore take a program for Freshmen called "Sexperts." Sexperts should have all answers to the questions about sex. The program is open by hand a piece of paper and pencil to Freshman students to post any questions relates to sex and give to the sexperts.

Some questions are interesting, too opinional, and some silly. One student asked, "Can our grandparents have sex, is that normal for people over 60 years old have sex?" Both girls and boys are separte to discuss about it. Both of teams of gender answered that they can have sex whatever they want to and that's why we have viagra for. Some question is more opinional, for example, one student asked "which is best sex position?" and "how we can satisfy men if we are virgin?"

That program is successful due to students' evaluation and they say that they enjoyed the program because they get good information about sex and feel open mind about sex.

Weather on Tuesday and Thursday

The weather on tuesday and thursday was gloomy and rainy. But weather is much nicer on Wednesday. In few classroom, I noticed that about half of students don't show up for morning classes, prehaps because of weather. I was wonder if gloomy weather make them feel depression and gloomy to do anything. Some students commented that their "old pain" feel ache during rainy that make them not want to show up classes. Today, in the class have a big test and surprisely, more than half of studnets don't even show up for test, is they don't study enough or it is beacause of weather?

How can we solve this problem? Maybe we make tunnel for students to stay underground to walk from dorm to classes? Yeah, it will take years to complete it but would this helpful to improve this? Or prehaps, we can control the weather by ourselves to make it stop rain and sun all the times even it would be more risk for global warming? Ahh, we need a snow to bright our day?

Unfortunately, we can't really do anything about weather except for not let the weather affect our mood. THINKING POSTIVE!

Enrichment's Day

Every year, Gallaudet University hosted an Enrichment's Day for everyone to go to workshops all day. That's mean no school for students. Some students say that they use that day as their free day and sleep in the morning. Today, in cafeteria, most students walked in around 1 P.M. in their pajamas pants on. Some conversion between students, some of them made a plan to go mall or to catch up on homework.

Wonder who going to Enrichment's Day? Some students say that they are going to there because their teachers required them to go for some assignments and other students would say that their teachers don't required them to go but they encourage them to go and most of students say that they decided to use that day as their free day.

The question is, if next year for Enrichment's Day, would ALL teachers required for all students to go to workshop? Will there good number of students to show up? OR just same as now?

PHA

On October 4, 2007, Peer Health Advocates (PHA) provides a program, "House Parties" for Gallaudet University freshmen. The program was covered with safety tips for partying and for host a party. Over thirty freshmen students show up for this program. In the beginning of the program was open with questions for students to debate based on their opinion, for example, for the question is "Why you going to a House Party?" At the end of the presentation, beer goggles was provide to freshmen to performed a "soberity test" by wear a goggle and walk on the line. According to evalution papers that students filled out, most of them say that program is really enjoyable for them.
